Arroz con Leche

Ashley sings a song called "Arroz con Leche" that she learned from Andrea and Laura.  Here she sings it to Noah who seems to like it just as much as she does:

If you're interested in learning the lyrics, here you go:

Arroz con leche me quiero casar
con una señorita de la capital
Que sepa cocer
Que sepa cocinar
Que sepa abrir la puerta
Para ir a jugar
Con esta si
Con esta no!
Con esta señorita me caso yo!

Loose translation:
Rice and milk, I want to get married,
With a lady from the city
Who knows how to sew
Who knows how to cook
Who knows how to open the door
To hang out and play
This one yes
This one no
With this lady I’ll marry!

Paul and Art

I doubt that even in their wildest of wild dreams, would Simon and Garfunkel have imagined that a child in 2017 would be singing their songs in the backseat of a minivan.  And yet here we are as a family, singing Homeward Bound:

Happy Birthday, to who???

The other day I heard Tate warbling at the top of his voice.  For no apparent reason, he was singing "happy birthday".  He was so adorable, and he even obliged me by singing once I turned on the camera!  Maybe the kid simply thought this would be a good way to get a slice of cake?

Spring Concert

Adam and Ashley have spent weeks practicing with their classmates and Mr. Hamm in preparation for the annual Spring Concert.  MLM, on the other hand, had to orchestrate both hair and outfits an an early week day hour.  Glad to report passing grades all around!

Luckily I got to the school early enough to snag a prime front row seat.  Perfect for catching the action. When looking at the stage, Ashley is on the left side and in the upper few rows (next to her friend Brooklyn in blue sequins).  Adam is on the far right side of the stage in the bottom row (in red, of course).

Can't Help Falling in Love... With Both of You!

I can't help falling in love with these two.  They're just so cute (even with the occasional squabble)!

Besame Mucho

We speak English in our home but we sing in many different languages:  Russian, Hebrew and now Spanish.  Hit it, kids!

Lullaby Preview

As we sang the same night time songs to A+A for over 2 years, I often wondered what effect it would have on the kids.  Would they remember it?  Would laugh about it?  Turns out it's made a favorable impression on them:

Dance Fever

When I was little, I remember a show called Dance Fever.  It was on TV shortly after dinner.  Post-prandial dancing cuts across generations.  These two caught the dance bug too:

A Lullaby for Tate

Ashley asked me if she could sing a lullaby to Tate.  Who am I to say no?

First Song

There's a song that Adam and Ashley learned at school last year.  I don't know the official name of the song;  I've always thought of it as the "Blink-a Stink-a" song and I love it.

Voice Lessons

There are two movies which reign supreme in our home:  Cars and Frozen.  These movies are so popular that the kids have started singing the theme songs.  Well, the chorus, at least.  See below and if you're not in an office setting (or even if you are), feel free to sing along!

Tonight we were treated to a duet.  Need some translation?  Look below the video.

Words used in this video in no particular order:  "Doc" (from Disney's Cars), "Lightning", "Sally", Cinderella, and Ariel.

School Visitors

Karla and I tagged along with the kids one Friday morning to see what the citizens do on Friday mornings.  It was a very enjoyable morning:

Happy Birthday to Me!

My birthday was a few days ago.  Karla decorated the play room with streamers and photos of the citizens.  The citizens sang a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday Mommy".  What a wonderful way to celebrate!

Play Time

Sometimes the best fun is created just by hanging out in the living room:

Lil' Orphan Annie

About a year ago, just as the kids were learning to speak, they asked me to sing songs with the word "sun" in it.  So I sang (rather off-key) "Tomorrow" from the Broadway play Annie.  Over the past year they requested repeat performances.  As long as no other adults were around, I happily indulged them.

Imagine my surprise when Ashley asked me to record her singing the song:

And she had so much fun doing it, she asked to do it again:

Niagara Vacation: Part #7

On our last day in the Niagara Falls area, we visited Youngstown and Lewiston.  While in Lewiston, the A-team treated us to a performance.  The clip is a bit long;  I promise there's a good giggle in store for you at the end.

Inspired by ....?

Was Ashley inspired by Madonna?  Where is that question coming from, you ask?  Well, she's singing while parading around in her underwear.  There are probably other entertainers who do that these days, but I'm too out of touch to know any of their names.
