"Honiku" by Adam

Some samples of Adam's writing were sent home last week.  Not only does this show his writing skills, but it also highlights his artistic skills (note the drawings at the top of each page) and what he learns on Sundays.  Watching your kid put all of the pieces together is just priceless.  It's hard for even the adults to spell some of the Hebrew words. Best thing to do is to read each image closely and then check the spellings in the captions below.

Hanukkah is a Jewish holiday.  The first Hanukkah was about 2,000 years ago.  Hanukkah lasts 8 nights.

Title:  "The Game 'Dratl' [dreidel]"
A dreidel is a spinning top tha has 4 sides. Each side has a Hebrew letter on it.  The letters are Nun, Gimmel, Hay and Shin.  They stand for this: 'A great miracle happened there."  It happened in Israel.
[MLM's note: Adam added the correct Hebrew letter written in block form next to each written out letter sound.  Thats my kid!]

Title:  "What you need"
You need candles, dreidels, gelt, matches and do not forget the menorah!  One menorah can hold 9 candles.  And gelt is chocolate coins.  The wrapping is gold or silver or bronze.

Title:  "The Hanukkah Story"
Hanukkah  started by war.  Many people died.  But before the war, all Jewish people had to bow down to Greek idols.  If they did not they were killed.  After the war their synagogue was full of garbage.

But the Jewish people rebuily the synagogue and when it came time to light the lamp they only found a jar of pure oil only enough for ...

... one night but it lasted 8 nights!  That is why Hanukkah started.

Three Months

Time flies when you're an adult.  Not so when you're a kid.  After all, Noah is now 30% older than he was a month ago.  That's a lot o' growin' to do in a short time.

He's cheerful, smiley, and a joy!

Hooray!  This is the month I get to each chocolate!

Where's my bib?  I'm ready!

Hey Dog, I can almost taste the chocolate now... too bad you can't have any because you're a dog.

Oh no.  Mommy says I have to wait a long time for chocolate.

That's OK!  I hear I'm eating wheat cereal, mushy peas and boiled carrots next month.

Whaddya think?  Does that stuff grow in the backyard?

Neither can I.  I also can't believe I've been blogging for 7 years.  Some people try to make money from blogging, but not me.  I'm altruistic.  And besides, all three of my loyal readers might object to paying a monthly subscription ;)  Where would I be without my loyal readership?

So why didn't I post something for post #1500?

Latex Gloves

I was wondering why Tate kept asking to play with latex gloves.  That's all he wanted.  And to play with them in the bath, no less.  So when this photo arrived in my inbox from his Drumlin teachers, it all made sense:

Monster Mash

Today Noah is sporting his "monster" clothes while hanging out in the Rock and Play... maybe he's thinking of doing the Monster Mash?

It's amazing how some clothing wears out after a few washings and other items last, well, forever.

Here's a snap of Noah wearing a hand-me-down that was once worn by his older cousin Alex.  Alex is going to college next fall.  This outfit was also worn by Adam and Tate.

Call it a rite of passage? Whatever it is, this particular Carter's onesie is durable!

Noah wants to sit in the big chair before he goes to bed at night... so we snapped a photo of him:

Happy High Chair

This is Noah's first time in the high chair.  He joined us for dinner!  Well, he had his meal and we had ours... but it was nice to sit together as a family.  As you can see, Tate had an enormous appetite that night.

A new place to sit.  Fun!

Are you eating Chinese food?  Can I have some?  Please please please????

Coordinated Kid

This is one coordinated kid.  He's able to hold his pacifier in place!

Bris Clothes

Noah was swaddled for most of the bris, so it was hard to see just how cute his "welcome to the world" outfit really is.  We snapped a few photos to make sure we remember just how adorable he looks in this outfit.

Last time I wore this outfit was at the bris.  What are you doing to me today? 

Nothing?  Whew.  I can relax.

But still, I'm suspicious.  You can't really blame me.

Daddy's Little Guy

There was a very sweet moment just after Noah finished his bottle.  So sweet that neither Daddy nor Noah was in a hurry to move:

We wrapped up Noah in the favorite bear suit in preparation for a walk outside.  He conked out even before we left the changing table.  How sweet he looks!

New Month (New Year)

This photo was taken just a few days into 2019;  MLM is a bit behind.  That's probably going to be the new norm for a while.  Decided to use it to celebrate the first day of February instead.  Ha!
